I have written a book on sport with my daughter Tabitha Carron. It is titled The Gift of Sport – see below. We both enjoy many different sports. Tabitha played rugby for Cambridge University first team and also rowed for her College at Cambridge. I have been a keen long distance runner and squash player for many years. I have also published research articles on the science of sport in areas such as cycling, pole vaulting and running. The book is like an encyclopaedia of sport and contains many colour pictures to illustrate the different sports. It makes a great gift for Christians and non-Christians.
The purpose of the book is to:
- Describe the thrill and enjoyment of taking part in different sports
- Show how sport reveals amazing design in the human body
- Show how the human body reveals a Creator who loves mankind
- Describe interesting aspects of many sports such as history and rules
- Describe the physics of each sport – this can be helpful for students
- Describe fun facts for each sport
- Describe how the Christian faith involves an endurance race of faith
